Chidzambga Refuses To Hit Back At Uganda Coach’s Jibe

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambga has shrugged off remarks made by Uganda’s national team coach, Sebastien Desabre, following the 2019 Afcon finals draw held last month.

Desabre said that the Warriors will be the whipping boys in their group.

Zimbabwe is in Group A alongside hosts Egypt, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Speaking to The Herald over the Desabre’s jibe, Mhofu said:

This is an open group and I must say it’s one of the toughest, no doubt about that.

We have been called the whipping boys of the group, and we like it that way.

We are the whipping boys on some people’s lips, they have said it. Yes, we are the underdogs, but I believe our team is experienced enough to compete.

That’s all I can say.

The Warriors have already beaten DRC in the qualifiers and have a history of rising to the occasion whenever they meet the Pharaohs.

The Warriors clash with the Pharaohs in the opening game of the AFCON finals in Cairo, on June 21, kickoff time 10 pm.
