In an exclusive interview with NewsDay on Friday, MDC leader Nelson Chamisa said Zimbabwe had moved to a military state where soldiers are used to maintain order.
Chamisa:

<blockquote>Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua has released an official video of his famed ‘Zimbabwe Coup’ prophecy to Emmanuel TV’s YouTube Channel.
A raw, unedited version of his prediction went viral on social media after the Zimbabwean military toppled Robert Mugabe from power on Tuesday 14th November 2017 in a bloodless coup.
“I am seeing military – they are interested in embarrassing a President,” Joshua is heard saying in the clip dated Sunday 31st August 2014.
“They are still on in that plan – to kidnap either a President, Vice President or First Lady of that nation,” the cleric continued, specifying that prayers should be offered for Southern Africa.
“They want to kidnap him and if he refuses, they will kill him… God showed me the place but I don’t want to put any country into pandemonium.”
Online reactions to Joshua’s prophecy have been varied, with some hailing the cleric, others denouncing the prediction as a ‘lucky guess’ and still more suspecting the cleric had ‘inside information’ on the military’s plans.
“I’m waking up to a world where a TB Joshua prophecy has come true. Kill me now,” wrote CynicHarare on Twitter, a notable critic of Joshua on social media.
Zimbabwean media mogul Trevor Ncube acknowledged Joshua’s proclamation. “Yes, I saw that prophecy from TB Joshua,” he told a follower on Twitter. “What a true prophecy!”
Former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode and popular comedian AY also shared Joshua’s prediction on their social media platforms.
The clip has raked up thousands of views since it was published in the early hours of Thursday 16th November 2017.
“This prophet is sharp in the spirit; even a plot was shown to him three years ago,” wrote one of Joshua’s followers on YouTube.
The situation in Zimbabwe remains tense with reports stating Mugabe, currently under house arrest, is refusing to co-operate with the military’s insistence that he relinquish power and hand over to his former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.</blockquote>

TB Joshua Releases Official Video Of Zimbabwe "Coup" Prophecy

“We thought this was going to be a historic evening, but it turned out to be something else.” Pastor Evan Mawarire, a prominent political activist in Zimbabwe said last night to his followers after President Mugabe failed to resign.
“I don’t know what just happened. He didn’t say anything. He literaly didn’t say anything. Oh Gosh. I can’t lie to you that I’m ok with that. I’m not feeling good about it at all!”
Zimbabweans were glued to their TVs and social media, expecting that as reported across media,  Mugabe was finally yielding to the pressure and would announce his resignation.
Mugabe didn’t resign. Instead, he spoke about the good rains, the agriculture season and that though mistakes had been made by the command, they were fixable and he would continue leading his party, and by extension, government.
“I cannot explain to you what an anti-climax that was,” Pastor Evan said in a video reaction video to the speech.
The pastor asked for time alone to process everything.
<blockquote>“Before I say goodnight after that absolutely shocking speech that didn’t say much to us. A speech that sounded like an apology but wasn’t an apology. A speech that sounded like someone who wanted fix things even though he doesn’t have the right to fix things anymore…. Let me say this to put our minds at ease. He was fired today. There are no two ways about it. The only remaining possibility at this point is that parliament is going to go ahead and impeach him. That should begin this coming week. I don’t see any other meaningful way in which this could end. Coz he can’t preside over his party’s congress”</blockquote>
In his speech, Mugabe said he would preside over his party’s congress in the coming weeks normally.
Pastor Evan found this unbelievable:
<blockquote>“He’s no longer president of his party. He’s possibly refused to resign, which means parliament will have to go on with an impeachment. If he’s talking about presiding at congress, maybe he’s not aware that he’s been fired by his party, which is highly unlikely. I think he would know he’s been fired by the party.”</blockquote>

According to South African Publication, City Press, the military takeover by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces had been planned weeks in advance and was supposed to have been executed in December before the Zanu-PF Extra-Ordinary Congress. However, the timetable had to be accelerated after former Vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa was fired from government and Zanu-PF. The <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2017/11/17/zrp-support-unit-attempted-to-arrest-general-chiwenga-when-he-returned-from-china/">attempted arrests of Mnangagwa and Commander Defence Forces General Constantino Chiwenga</a> also escalated the matter.
According to City Press, several governments in the SADC region, the United States and China were aware of the plan and were not opposed to it. However, the governments are reported to have insisted that the military takeover should not be characterised as a coup and that there should be no bloodshed. It is reported that the planners of the military takeover “received assurances that there would be no military intervention” from the region.
The United States is reported to have been made aware but it chose not to play any role while the Chinese are reported to have been delighted as long as their interests were protected.
The sources who spoke to City Press said:
<blockquote>The Chinese were keen on knowing who would take over. When [the diplomat] informed them that it was Mnangagwa, they were thrilled as he is an old friend of China. He did his military training there.
I can confirm that at this stage, the United States was informed, but played no role in the plan.</blockquote>

Former Zanu-PF member turned independent legislator for Norton, Temba Mliswa has said that a transitional government may be impossible because this is Zanu-PF’s cake, to do with as it pleases. Mliswa was speaking about what happens after the fall of President Robert Mugabe, who lost power when the Zimbabwe Defences Forces (ZDF) seized power on Wednesday.

Pastor Evan has called for Zimbabweans to come in numbers to join the war veterans organised march in solidarity with the military intervention. He has said that Zimbabweans should thank the military for intervening.
He also said that Zimbabweans should join in solidarity with the army because the war veterans have been clear that the march and rally is for all Zimbabweans.
The war veterans called for the march earlier today and have invited Zimbabweans to come from all over Zimbabwe.
There will be two big gatherings in Harare. One of the gatherings will be at Zimbabwe Grounds in Highfields and the other one will be at 4th street bus terminus at 9AM.

Pastor Evan Mawarire Calls For People to Join the March to State House. Zimbabwe Grounds and 4th Street

The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange shares lost close to US $3 billion in value in a single week, following the uncertainty that gripped the country this week.
The market capitalisation of the companies whose stocks are traded on the local exchange fell from $15 billion to $12.3 billion on the back of massive disposal of shares by the investors.
Some of the counters that lost the most were Econet  (lost 19.99% market cap) Delta (19.94%), Old Mutual (19.58%) and Afdis  (18.37%).
The military took over the control of the government in the early hours of Wednesday, 15 November 2017. The intervention happened two days after military commander, Constantino Chiwenga, announced they would not hesitate to intervene to fix a Zanu-PF situation supposedly threatening the country’s stability
The military has insisted that the intervention is not a coup.

Zimbabwe Loses Close To $3 Billion On The Stock Market In "Military Coup" Week

The military has released a statement in support of the solidarity march to the Zimbabwe Grounds that was announced earlier by the War Veterans leader Chris Mutsvangwa, and ZAPU leader Dumiso Dabengwa.
The military has asked the march and rally be orderly, principled and that no hate speech, inciting of violence should happen. It also warned against looting.
<blockquote>“The ZDF is therefore advising the nation that for as long as the planned march remains orderly, peaceful and in tandem with the fundamental bill of rights and within the confines of the country’s constitution and without hate speech and incitement to cause violence, it fully supports the march.
The ZDF is also encouraging the march participants to be disciplined and to return to their respective provinces with dignity after the march processions and moreover people have been warned against looting.”</blockquote>
Zimbabwe Grounds is in Highfields. The march was called for at a press conference today by the war veterans leader Chris Mutsvanga, who was flanked by the immediate former minister of war veterans Tshinga Dube, and Douglas Mahiya.

Military Releases Statement in Support of Solidarity March to Zimbabwe Grounds

<blockquote>Since our last update on developments in the country, we wish to inform the nation that significant progress has been made in our operation. To this end, we have accounted for some of the criminals while others are still at large.
We are currently engaging with the Commander in Chief on the way forward and you will be advised of the outcome as soon as is possible. Defence Attaches accredited to Zimbabwe have been briefed to appraise their principals on the obtaining situation in our country. We have also advised the bureaucrats to brief their cooperating partners. We implore other Security Services to continue operations and carry out their duties without any form of impediment to our operation.
Whilst we appreciate the enthusiasm by (sic) certain individuals and groups within society, we want to make it clear that they should not purport to be speaking on our behalf. We will periodically make press releases to keep the public informed of developments in the country.

Latest Update From The Zimbabwe Defence Forces On Situation In The Country

President Jacob Zuma, in his capacity as SADC chairperson, called an urgent meeting to discuss the unfolding political and security situation in Zimbabwe today in Gaborone, Botswana. 
The meeting follows Zimbabwean Defence Forces intervention in Zimbabwe. The meeting was attended by ministers responsible for foreign or external affairs from the SADC Organ Troika member states, namely Angola, Tanzania and Zambia as well as SADC Council Chairperson Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, the South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. Below is the SADC press statement on the meeting:

The SADC Organ Troika Plus Council Chairperson Ministerial Meeting was held at the SADC Secretariat in Gaborone, Republic of Botswana on 16th November 2017, comprising of the Republic of South Africa (Chairperson of Council of Ministers), Republic of Angola (Chairperson of Organ), Republic of Zambia (Incoming Chairperson of Organ) and United Republic of Tanzania (Outgoing Chairperson of Organ).
2. SADC Organ Troika Plus reafirmed SADC’s commitment to African Union (AU) Constitutive Act and the SADCs Democratic Principles, as they relate to the unconstitutional removal of democratically elected Governments.
3. The objective of the meeting was to consider the unfolding situation in the Republic of Zimbabwe.
4. SADC Organ Troika noted with great concern the unfolding situation in the Republic of Zimbabwe
5. SADC Organ Troika further reafirmed the need for SADC Member States to remain guided by their Constitutions.
