The City of Harare announced that it had resumed pumping water to greater Harare on Monday night following the completion of major repair works at Warren Control in Warren Park.

In a public notice, the council warned that it would take some time for water to reach residential areas, as most of the distribution tanks were still empty. It said:

“The City of Harare is happy to inform residents that we have started pumping water to Greater Harare after completion of major repair works at Warren Control in Warren Park.

“Since most of our distribution tanks were empty, it will take time for water to get to residential areas.

“But some residents will start getting water anytime from now, while in other areas, it will take more time.

“We thank residents for their understanding and patience during the period our teams were working on repairing the major burst pipes at Warren Control.”

Since Friday, 27 March, parts of Harare have been without water after a major pipe burst forced the immediate shutdown of Warren Control.

The council said the shutdown was needed to scour the system, inspect the pipelines, and carry out repairs.

While the works were initially expected to be completed on Sunday, the council said a few additional technical issues delayed the process.
