Herbalists Urged To Modernise Products, Improve Packaging

Herbalists have been urged to adopt modern standards and invest in value addition and improved packaging.

Zambian herbal medicine specialist John Phiri said the future of herbal remedies depends on their ability to meet consumer expectations.

Phiri, who was exhibiting at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS), was showcasing a wide range of organic herbal medicines designed to promote health and wellness through natural solutions.

He is also the managing director of Jonmaka Products, based in Lusaka, Zambia, and said:

“Traditionalists must also adapt to the times, add value, and improve their packaging for organic medications.

“Proper labelling, attractive packaging and quality assurance are essential for positioning African herbal medicine on the global stage.

“By embracing value addition, improved packaging and certified organic processes, herbal medicine can play a vital role in transforming healthcare and creating economic opportunities across Africa.”
