Hello Paisa MD Sayjil Magan speaks about why they started Malaicha.com and the problems they are solving with their brand new baby Malaicha.com.

The reason for [Malaicha.com] is that we are Hello Group believe ourselves to be solutionists. We believe the best solution to our customer base – our customer base are migrants in South Africa – and that’s where Malaicha.com comes from.

We realised that Zimbabweans living in South Africa needed a way to send their groceries back to Zimbabwe to their loved ones. We realised also that they were sending them through informal means which was uncertain and very costly.

And that is why we developed our app, which makes it a certain service, guaranteed services and one that is very cost-effective.

Pindula asked him about the possibility of expanding beyond groceries, into medication and building material.

So I had to start somewhere. So we started with groceries and basic neccessities that people would need. We also have toiletries, baby care, stationery. But building materials, defintely coming soon. Medication requires special permits – we would need to apply for those so it;s more of a long term.

Malaicha.Com is a grocery remittance service which Zimbabweans living in South Africa can use to send groceries back home. The same day service allows the sender to choose from their 300+ list of groceries and toiletries,  pay for them and their friend or relative gets the goods in Zimbabwe. The goods can be collected in Mutare, Masvingo,  Harare and Bulawayo.
