Hello Paisa Armed Robbery Trio Jailed 18 Years Each

Three men have each been sentenced to an effective 18 years in prison for a violent armed robbery at Hello Paisa in Kuwadzana 2 Shopping Centre, Harare.

Edson Murambidzi, 33, Takudzwa Makanha, 24, and Munyaradzi Muchero Hodzi, 30, were convicted by the Harare Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that on 16 April 2025, the trio and accomplices still at large carried out a planned armed robbery at the financial services outlet. Armed with three .38 special revolvers, iron bars and axes, they assaulted security guards and tied up one victim.

The gang blasted open a safe using explosives and stole US$8,950 in cash, a .38 special revolver and a Huawei Y6 cellphone. The total value of cash and goods taken was US$10,000. Property worth US$900 was later recovered.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the three men. Police recovered three .38 special revolvers and live ammunition that were positively linked to the offence.
