The government is set to embark on a thorough investigation in public hospitals following fire outbreaks that have destroyed property.
Speaking to the media in a post-cabinet briefing in Harare on Thursday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting acting Minister Sekai Nzenza said:
Cabinet expressed concern over the growing trend of outbreaks of fire at government health institutions and called for an in-depth investigation into the causes of the occurrences.
Furthermore, the cabinet resolved to carry out targeted refurbishment of the strategic public hospitals throughout the country in order to improve health service provision.
Fires have destroyed infrastructure at several hospitals across the country with Mpilo, Parirenyatwa and Kariba hospital victims of fires in the recent past.
