The government says it has, through the Civil Protection Unit, triggered its disaster management systems which involve armed forces, Airforce, ZRP sub aqua units, partners such International Organization of Migration(IOM), Red Cross, Save Children etc as part of its Action Plan.
This comes as Tropical Cyclone Idai is expected to hit Zimbabwe later on Friday night, starting with the Eastern parts of the country.
The cyclone is accompanied by strong winds and there is a risk of flooding in low lying areas. Cyclone Idai is expected to influence local weather conditions between 15 to 17 March.
