Makamba Accused Of Plotting Smear Campaign Against Supa, Chiwenga Over Telecel

Businessman James Makamba, who returned home last year after 12 years in self-imposed exile is reported to be planning a smear campaign against ICT Minister Supa Mandiwanzira. Makamba is trying to gain control of Telecel Zimbabwe and is reported to be seeing the minister as a stumbling block. The businessman was recently involved in a fight for control of the Empowerment Corporation with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son-in-law Gerald Mlotshwa. The Empowerment Corporation owns 40 percent of Telecel Zimbabwe, with the government owning the rest. According to State media, there is an audio recording in which Makamba says:

These guys need an expose but in a smart way, ok? Because there is the General (Chiwenga) on the other side nepfuti dzake and his wife.

Makamba’s associate goes on to say,

Nyoka inorohwa musoro wayo and musoro wenyoka iyi ndiSupa (Target a snake’s head to kill it, and the head of this snake is Supa).
