According to state media, President Emmerson Mnangagwa told off an official from CBZ Bank when she brought his first salary in a “sack of cash.” The official indicated that this was the arrangement which had been initiated by former president Robert Mugabe. However, Mnangagwa is reported to have turned this down and instructed the bank to his bank account.
Below are some of the reactions on Twitter:
Mnangagwa has failed to find a solution to the cash crisis now he wants to act as if he's connected to the majority by standing in a queue at the bank?? Only EDiots will fall for this. This guy is a failure! #Juntamustfall

Mnangagwa is trying by all means to appear holy, but hmmm its not working. Vele akuhlangani okustory kwakhe. https://t.co/VpBnnFuG7G

This story is bullshit. There is no way Mnangagwa being Mugabes number 2 would not have known that Mugabe was being paid in cash.

Was it Mugabe alone who was getting cash .When Mnangangwa was VP how was he paid and how much? @SundayMailZim

Wait & see Mai Mnangagwa in a queue with ZBC in tow. Headline news 😂😂😂

Instead of solving the cash crisis Emerson Mnangagwa is telling newspapers that he'll be queueing up for cash like all of us. The President is essentially admitting failure by pretending to be humble. He's given up. He's clueless. He's ZANU PF#Chamisa2018

@ali_naka have you ever seen mnangagwa in a que when he was a minister, tibvirei apa
— Nhaudza2016 (@NhaudzaSimoyi) March 11, 2018
Surely Mnangagwa has no clue on how to solve the cash crisis no wonder he wants to join us in the bank queues. Which means the cash shortage is here to stay.

3. Mnangagwa says he will queue at the bank like all other customers to withdraw his wage. Sounds lovely but it also sounds like a cheap political stunt. Has he been queuing at the bank to withdraw his wage all these years that he was a VP & Minister?

Very funny indeed and a good question, aimohora salary yake sei pese apa. The whole thing looks and sounds stage managed for us unsuspecting citizens to think he is a changed man. I would want to actually see pics of him in a bank que to prove that!

Sounds like silly creation, a very poor effort indeed. How can a whole president's salary get delivered by a banker to him personally; and he had no idea that was the arrangement and that that person was cmn to his office on the day in qn??

Cheap politics. Kuitwa mabharanzi chaiko

Weird ED had to give them his account #. Since when did cbz only have customers' work addresses to deliver cash but not their account #s, not even the president's? It's all propaganda .

as much as we appreciate the gesture we don’t have time to appease his guilty conscience. thank you
Am sure ED has a disadvantage in adopting a dead economy ruined by Mugabe. But l’m equally optimistic that he will put things together in a very short space of time, Zimbabwe will soon get back to it’s ancient truth. The so called lawyers who are saying our Emmerson Dambudzo is legally illiterate are after power and nothing else. Zimbabwe needs cooperation between government and opposition, to facilitate economic growth. lt is clear that our opposition has engaged with Mugabe and “NPF” kuita shaisano. we are not going to allow this. Noo.
