The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned residents in Mabelreign and surrounding suburbs in Harare to be on alert for a gang of three armed and dangerous criminals targeting homes and churches at night, robbing victims and allegedly committing sexual assaults.
In a public notice, Officer in Charge of Mabelreign Police Station, Chief Inspector Progress Mangena, said the suspects were armed and highly dangerous. She urged residents to heighten security and remain vigilant.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police, Mabelreign, wishes to alert members of the public about the presence of three dangerous and notorious criminals currently operating within the Mabelreign area and surrounding neighbourhoods,” she said.
Chief Inspector Mangena said one suspect is tall, of medium build and dark in complexion, while the other two are short and slim, with one light-skinned and the other dark.
She said the suspects were reportedly armed with a rifle, crowbars, knives and a large torch.
Chief Inspector Mangena added that the trio was targeting residential homes and churches, particularly at night.
“They are targeting residential homes and churches, particularly at night. After stealing valuables, they have also been reported to sexually assault and rape victims,” she said.
Members of the public have been advised to ensure all doors and windows are securely locked, especially at night, and to strengthen security measures such as burglar bars and alarm systems.
Chief Inspector Mangena also urged residents to avoid opening doors to strangers late at night, travel in groups where possible, and report any suspicious persons or activities immediately.
She appealed to anyone with information that may lead to the suspects’ arrest to contact Mabelreign Police Station.
