Dynamos, Bikita Minerals, Manica Diamonds, and MWOS all secured victories in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup to book their places in the quarter-finals.

On Saturday, defending champions Dynamos once again required a penalty shootout to progress, edging out Simba Bhora 5-4 on spot kicks after a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time.

The Glamour Boys, who had also triumphed on penalties against Yadah in the preliminary round earlier in the week, secured a late equaliser through Ghanaian striker Felix Kwaku Hammond, cancelling out Boid Mutukure’s early fifth-minute opener.

The deadlock forced the contest into penalties, where Dynamos were flawless in converting all their kicks, while Simba Bhora saw their first attempt saved.

Meanwhile, at Ngoni Stadium, MWOS recorded a historic 2-0 win over CAPS United to reach their first-ever Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final. Second-half goals from Nigel Mutinha and Arthur Banda secured the victory for the Premier Soccer League debutants.

At Mandava Stadium, FC Platinum’s campaign came to an end following a 5-3 penalty shootout defeat to Manica Diamonds after a goalless draw in regular time.

Bikita Minerals also progressed after overcoming TelOne 5-4 on penalties. The match had finished 1-1, with Tinaye Tsimba putting Bikita Minerals ahead in the fifth minute before Frank Makarati equalised early in the second half.

On Sunday, Scottland advanced to the quarter-finals courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory over GreenFuel at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare. Moses Shidolo’s 15th-minute strike proved decisive.

Triangle United completed the quarter-final line-up after defeating Ngezi Platinum Stars 6-5 on penalties at Baobab Stadium, following a goalless draw.
