The City of Harare will shut down water supplies to the entire city for three days to allow for urgent repairs and cleaning at its main water facilities.
The council said the planned disruption, which had been scheduled for 14 to 16 August, has been postponed to this week.
It will now take place from 6 am on Friday, 21 August to 6 pm on Sunday, 23 August.
The city said the shutdown is due to a partial shutdown at Morton Jaffray Water Works and a total shutdown of Warren Control Pump Station to allow for urgent leak repairs and reservoir cleaning at both facilities.
“Consequently, water supply to the entire City of Harare will be affected during this period,” the council said.
Residents have been urged to store enough water in clean, covered containers before Friday morning and to use water sparingly during the shutdown.
Normal water supply is expected to resume on Sunday at 6 pm once the works are complete.
