Bulawayo Announces Water Shutdown From Thursday To Friday

Bulawayo residents will go without water for more than a day due to urgent maintenance works along the Ncema/Insiza pipeline.

The City of Bulawayo says water supplies will be interrupted to all areas except the Central Business District and areas supplied by the Tuli Reservoir from 9 am on Thursday, 20 August to 6 pm on Friday, 21 August.

Town Clerk Christopher Dube said the disruption is due to urgent repair works on the Insiza pipeline at Karmen Farm, along the Ncema/Insiza pipeline.

He said the repairs will result in a temporary shutdown of raw water pumping on the Flowserve line, which will significantly reduce bulk water delivery into the city.

“To preserve reservoir levels and protect the distribution network, water supplies to all residential areas, except those supplied by Tuli Reservoir, will be suspended,” Dube said.

The Central Business District and industrial areas are also exempt from the cut.

Dube said supplies will be restored progressively once pumping resumes and reservoir levels stabilise.
