Wicknell Chivayo says Zimdancehall musician Enzo Ishall sold a luxury vehicle he had gifted him after struggling with the cost of maintaining it.

Chivayo disclosed this while speaking on the Denny J Show, where he said he has been fielding questions about what happens to the expensive vehicles he gives to celebrities.

“People are calling me, you’re buying too many people cars. As soon as I get them they go and sell them at half the price,” he said.

He said he bought the vehicle for Enzo for about US$145,000, only to later receive a call from a car dealer.

“One car dealer called me and said, look, Enzo is selling the car you bought him. He wants US$60,000,” Chivayo said.

Chivayo said he had no objection to Enzo disposing of a vehicle that had become his property, but was disappointed by the circumstances.

According to Chivayo, the musician found the vehicle expensive to maintain and needed money.

He said Enzo could have approached him directly if keeping the car had become financially burdensome, suggesting he might even have considered helping him acquire a house instead.

Chivayo said Enzo is not the first beneficiary to consider converting one of his gifts into cash.

He revealed that musician Jah Prayzah approached him about selling a vehicle he had received because he wanted to raise money for a studio.

Chivayo said he had no objection in that case because Jah Prayzah was getting what he considered a reasonable price and planned to put the proceeds into another productive asset.

Chivayo has emerged as one of Zimbabwe’s most prolific celebrity benefactors, publicly handing over expensive vehicles and cash to musicians, football personalities, religious leaders and other public figures.

His beneficiaries have included Leonard Zhakata, Leonard Dembo’s children, Emmanuel Makandiwa, Nehemiah Mutendi, Walter Magaya, Jah Prayzah, Alick Macheso, Killer T, Mai Charamba, former Warriors captain Peter Ndlovu and veteran broadcaster Reuben Barwe.
