Worshipper Collapses And Dies Mid-Song At Women’s Conference

A member of the praise and worship team collapsed and died while leading worship at a church conference at Darwendale Camping Site on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Fadelia Gunzvenzve Chinogurei, of the Glenview United Methodist Circuit.

She was serving as part of the praise and worship team during a prayer meeting at the 2026 Zimbabwe West Annual Conference (ZWAC) revival for women, which drew more than 7,000 women from six districts.

According to a team member who spoke to H-Metro, Chinogurei collapsed in the middle of a worship song.

“She collapsed while we were leading a worship song. I want to believe that God has glorified her,” the team member said.

Church members described Mai Chinogurei as a dedicated member who consistently gave her best in discharging her duties.

Emergency responders and fellow congregants rushed her to hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Bishop Gift Machinga, who was not available for comment, addressed the gathering, offered prayers for the family and paid tribute to her passion for worship.
