Dynamos have been expelled from the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup over outstanding salary arrears owed to former coach Saul Chaminuka.
The Chibuku Super Cup holders were omitted in Thursday’s draw after CAF released a list of 56 participating teams without the Harare giants.
The sanction will also cost the club a minimum of US$100,000 in preliminary round participation fees.
Club officials had hoped to avert the ban after making a last-minute partial payment towards the nearly US$13,000 owed to Chaminuka, but FIFA insisted on full settlement before the deadline.
It is a major embarrassment for Dynamos, who qualified for Africa’s second-tier inter-club competition after winning the 2025 Chibuku Super Cup, but will now miss the tournament for the second consecutive season.
Last year, the club withdrew from the Confederation Cup citing financial constraints.
The development underlines persistent administrative and financial challenges within local clubs.
In contrast, Premier Soccer League Scottland FC were drawn against Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
