Air Zimbabwe has postponed its Harare-London flight that was scheduled for Friday night, with the disruption also affecting the return leg from London on Saturday.
According to ZimLive, passengers booked on Friday’s service were told at the airport that the flight was cancelled because of a sick pilot. The cancellation has had a knock-on effect on the London-Harare rotation.
The airline, which on 22 July launched three-weekly flights between Harare and London using a wet-leased Airbus A330-300, issued a formal operational update on Saturday morning, 1 August 2026.
In the update, Air Zimbabwe said Flight UM724, which was scheduled to depart Harare on 31 July 2026, had been postponed due to operational reasons.
“Air Zimbabwe advises that Flight UM724, scheduled to depart Harare on 31 July 2026, has been postponed due to operational reasons. We sincerely apologise for this delay and the inconvenience it causes to our valued passengers,” the airline said.
According to the revised schedule:
- Flight UM724 – Harare to London will now depart on Saturday, 01 August 2026 at 9 PM and arrive on Sunday, 02 August 2026 at 6 AM London time. Check-in opens at 6 PM, three hours before departure.
- Flight UM725 – London to Harare will now depart on Sunday, 02 August 2026 at 8 AM from London Gatwick and arrive on Sunday, 02 August 2026 at 7 PM Harare time. Check-in opens at 5 AM.
The airline said all affected passengers are being contacted directly with the revised flight details.
“We remain committed to delivering safe and reliable service on the Harare-London corridor and appreciate your patience and continued confidence in Air Zimbabwe as we establish this important route,” the airline said.
The brief disruption comes just over a week after Air Zimbabwe resumed direct flights to London, a key long-haul route the national carrier is seeking to re-establish.
