Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is now a full member of the Roman Catholic Church’s St Joseph’s Guild after graduating from the Guild’s final stage in Harare on Sunday, 26 July 2026.
It means he has committed himself to the virtues of St Joseph — love and the duty to protect one’s family.
To become a full member of the Guild, one has to complete formation classes, receive a uniform and sash, and make a formal commitment to serve the Church, care for family and model the virtues of St Joseph.
After completing the classes and the requirements for the final stage, the Vice President spent three days on retreat with fellow parishioners last weekend.
His wife, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, his daughter Kudzai Chiwenga, and his sons Gamuchirai Chiwenga, Tawanda Chiwenga, Kudakwashe Chiwenga and Takudzwa Chiwenga attended the investiture ceremony.
Posting on social media on Sunday, Col Baloyi described the Vice President as a man of firm convictions.
“A prisoner of faith… Today marked a huge milestone for us as a family with the head of our family becoming a full member of the Catholic guild of St Joseph having initially served in the first two stages of the same,” she wrote.
“He is such a man of strong and firm convictions and believe me you, this means the world to him and us as a family and we are so proud of him.
“To cap it off and in the true spirit of St Joseph that is anchored in service, Dad had the pleasure to partake in the offertory (collection).
“My dearest and loving husband, here is to wish you a worthwhile journey in your life of faith anchored on the main values of St Joseph: Just and Righteous, Diligence in work and service to your country, Steadfast protector and Chaste to your wife.”
