Highlanders has appointed an interim leadership team to ensure continuity following the tragic deaths of chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Sifiso Siziba and executive committee member for finance Nkani Khoza.

The three Highlanders executives and a supporter died in a road traffic accident on Thursday, 23 July 2026 at around 7:30 pm.

The accident occurred at the 380-kilometre peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road near Mbembesi after their vehicle reportedly hit a cow and then collided with a bus.

In a statement on Saturday, the club said the appointments were made after an emergency meeting of the Highlanders Football Club board, chaired by board chairman Luke Mnkandla, as the club continues to mourn one of the darkest moments in its proud history.

Executive committee member responsible for technical affairs, Kindman Ndlovu, has been appointed acting chairman and will work closely with executive member for marketing, Morgen Dube.

Board member Elkanah Dube will oversee the club’s administration, while board secretary Matthew Sibindi will oversee its financial affairs.

“These interim appointments are intended to ensure stability, continuity and the effective day-to-day running of the Club during this difficult period of mourning,” the club said.
