Wicknell Chivayo said that King Mswati III has granted him Eswatini citizenship and a diplomatic passport following a private audience at the Royal Palace on Thursday.

Posting on Facebook on Friday morning, Chivayo described the meeting as “amongst the GREATEST HONOURS of my life”.

“Yesterday will FOREVER rank amongst the greatest honours of my life. To be granted audience by a KING is a privilege afforded to very few men,” he wrote, saying he was received with “royal hospitality that exceeded every expectation”.

According to Chivayo, the discussions with His Majesty went beyond business and focused on philanthropy, youth empowerment and regional politics.

He said the King surprised him by showing “keen interest in the philanthropic work that I have undertaken in Zimbabwe and across the African continent”, adding: “I didn’t know his Royal Highness followed social media and was well acquainted with the developments in that cyberspace.”

Chivayo claimed the monarch “highly commended” his support for “revolutionary parties in the Southern African region, particularly ZANU PF under the visionary leadership of H.E. President E.D Mnangagwa”.

Chivayo’s meeting with King Mswati III comes just over a week after an eight-member delegation from the Kingdom of Eswatini visited Zimbabwe for talks with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, focusing on bilateral cooperation, investment opportunities and the long-standing historical and cultural ties between the two countries.

Prince Lindani Dlamini, son of King Mswati III and head of the delegation, said the visit also included the delivery of congratulations from Eswatini following Zimbabwe’s election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2027–2028 term.
