Nine Killed, 26 Injured After Goods Train Crashes Into Bus In Triangle

Nine people have died, and 26 others were injured after a goods train collided with a bus at a level crossing in Triangle, Masvingo Province, on Tuesday morning.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the fatal accident, saying the bus, owned by Makuku Bus Company, was travelling from Chikombedzi to Masvingo when it was struck by the train along Mbizi Road shortly before 9 am.

“The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at 0843 hours this morning along Mbizi Road in Triangle, Masvingo Province, when Makuku Bus travelling from Chikombedzi to Masvingo collided with a goods train at a rail-level crossing. Nine people are confirmed dead, while 26 victims were injured,” the ZRP said in a brief statement.

Police added that more details will be released in due course as officers are still attending to the scene of the accident.
