Bikita Minerals (Private) Limited has confirmed the deaths of two employees of independent contractors working at its operations.

In the first incident, Thomas Kaliveni, 40, a dump truck operator employed by WGB Kinsey & Company, died on 6 June 2026 at about 7:45 pm.

The company said Kaliveni succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident at the mine’s waste dump site.

In a separate and unrelated incident, a security guard employed by Rebnek Security was found dead.

A supervisor carrying out routine inspections found the employee unresponsive while on duty in the early hours of 7 June 2026.

In a statement, the mine’s management extended its condolences to the grieving families:

“Bikita Minerals extends its heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased… The safety, health, and well-being of everyone working at our operations remain a core priority.”

Mine management added that out of respect for the families and ongoing police investigations, no further details would be released at this stage.
