Hardrock Football Club chief executive officer Kudzanai Hove was arrested by police on Tuesday over violence that led to the abandonment of Sunday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match between the Kwekwe-based club and Dynamos at Chahwanda Stadium.
The trouble began after pitch invasions, vandalism of stadium property and clashes among supporters. It erupted shortly after Hardrock were awarded a second-half penalty, which they scored to make it 1–1.
Hove’s arrest follows the circulation of video footage on social media that appears to show him standing on the head of a Dynamos supporter as the fan lay on the turf.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of the CEO of Hardrock FC, Kudzanai Hove (44), in connection with the violence at Chahwanda Stadium on 24/05/26. More information will be released in due course,” the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said late on Tuesday.
On Monday, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police had arrested Shingirai Chivavare, 34, Matthias Taderera, 43, Tavakuda Nyoni, 46, and Emmanuel Dube, 50, in connection with acts of violence and public disorder at the match.
He said seven supporters were injured during the disturbances and were taken to Kwekwe General Hospital, where they are in a stable condition.
