The Premier Soccer League and betting firm LuckyBets have partnered to introduce a Player of the Match award for Castle Lager Premier Soccer League games, with a US$200 cash prize for each winner.
PSL spokesperson Kudzai Bare said on Tuesday, 12 May, that the initiative aims to recognise and reward outstanding individual performances as part of efforts to further professionalise the league and support its growth.
Winners will be decided through a structured voting process by journalists covering each fixture.
“Under the partnership, each Player of the Match will receive a cash prize of US$200, with winners determined through a structured voting process conducted by members of the media covering each fixture,” said Bare.
She said the partnership shows both the PSL and LuckyBets are committed to raising standards in football by rewarding excellence on the pitch.
“By formally recognising standout performances at every match, the award is expected to inspire players to consistently perform at their highest level, while also enriching the overall matchday experience for supporters and stakeholders,” Bare said.
The Player of the Match award will run for all remaining Castle Lager Premier Soccer League fixtures of the 2026 season.
