FC Barcelona have written another golden page in their history after clinching a 29th league title. The Blaugrana were crowned champions of the 2025/26 season, securing back-to-back trophies and reinforcing their status as one of Europe’s most important clubs.

The 2008/09 season was a turning point that began a dominant era for Barça. Between 2009 and 2019, the club lifted eight league titles under Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde.

After their 2019 triumph, Barcelona went three seasons without the domestic title before Xavi Hernández led them back to the top with a solid defence and a ruthless attack. Now, under Hansi Flick, the club have won two league titles in a row and started a new chapter of success.

Barça sealed their 29th La Liga crown in style on Sunday, beating rivals Real Madrid 2-0 in a crucial Clásico at Camp Nou. The win confirmed back-to-back titles for Flick’s side and left Madrid without a major trophy this season.

Barcelona only needed a draw, but came out on the front foot. Marcus Rashford, deputising for the injured Lamine Yamal, opened the scoring with a superb free-kick. Ferran Torres doubled the lead soon after, finishing off a clever pass from Dani Olmo as the home crowd erupted.

Real Madrid struggled to respond. Jude Bellingham had a goal disallowed for offside, while Barça keeper Joan Garcia denied Vinícius Júnior. Madrid arrived at the game amid reports of a training-ground scuffle involving Fede Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni.

The victory carried extra emotion for Flick, who took charge despite his father’s recent death. His team controlled the game and could have added more through Rashford, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.

Speaking after the final whistle, midfielder Frenkie de Jong said winning the title at home against Madrid made it even more special.

“This title is more special because we won it at home against Madrid. Now we have to enjoy it with the fans,” he said.
