The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has moved to shut down confusion over who speaks for the Association in the United Kingdom, just weeks before the national team heads there for a four-nations invitational tournament.
In a statement issued on Friday, 8 May, ZIFA said it has not appointed any individual, company, agency or organisation to represent its interests in the UK or anywhere outside Zimbabwe.
The warning comes as interest in the Warriors builds ahead of their UK trip for the upcoming four-nations tournament, where they are set to face Nigeria, Jamaica and India at The Valley, the home of Charlton Athletic FC, from 26 to 30 May 2026.
“All official ZIFA business, engagements, partnerships, commercial discussions, event arrangements, player-related matters, media activities, and stakeholder communications are conducted through the ZIFA Head Office and authorised office bearers of the Association,” the statement read.
The association urged the public, sponsors, and Zimbabweans in the diaspora to verify any approach made in ZIFA’s name before entering into discussions or agreements.
“Any individual or organisation purporting to represent ZIFA without written authority from the Association is doing so without mandate,” ZIFA added.
The four-nations tournament will be the Warriors’ first major outing in the UK and is seen as a key part of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
With a large Zimbabwean community in the UK, tickets, hospitality packages and community events are expected to be in high demand.
ZIFA’s Media & Communications Department stressed that all official communication will continue to come through its recognised platforms, including its website and verified social media accounts.
