ZRP Dismisses Viral Recruitment Message As A Hoax

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has dismissed as false and misleading a message doing the rounds on social media claiming that it is recruiting new officers.

In a statement on Saturday, 28 March, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the police did not issue the notice; therefore, the public should ignore it. He said:

“The ZRP dismisses a false and misleading statement circulating on social media regarding the recruitment of police officers. Members of the public are advised to disregard the statement.

“The ZRP will issue a statement on recruitment through its official communication channels at the appropriate time.”

Commissioner Nyathi also urged members of the public seeking clarification on police matters to use official communication channels. He said:

“For inquiries or clarification, members of the public are free to contact the National Complaints Desk on (024) 2703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800 197.”
