The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) says that most third-party prepaid vending platforms, including banks and retail Point of Sale (POS) systems, have now been successfully restored, allowing customers to purchase electricity tokens again.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, 24 March, ZETDC added that its technical teams are in the final stages of restoring the remaining platforms. The notice reads:
“Please be advised that most third-party prepaid vending platforms, including banks and retail Point of Sale (POS) systems, have been successfully restored.
“This follows a system interruption experienced on Sunday, 22 March 2026, which affected all vending platforms outside ZETDC Banking Halls.
“Technical teams are currently in the final stages of restoring the remaining platforms.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused during this service interruption and thank you for your continued patience as we finalise the full restoration of all platforms.”
ZETDC also advised customers that electricity tokens can be purchased directly at its banking halls or payment offices while the company completes the restoration of all payment channels.
