A 25-year-old Bulawayo man has been fined US$120 after assaulting the mother of his child when she refused to let him see their son.
Phakamani Nkomazana, of Old Pumula suburb, appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube, facing a charge of physical abuse.
He pleaded guilty and was fined US$120 or, failing that, two months in prison. The fine must be paid by 27 April.
Prosecutor Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that Nkomazana is the complainant’s ex-boyfriend. On 13 February 2026, at around 10 am, he went to the home of his ex-girlfriend, Nozithelo Moyo (19), intending to take their son.
When she refused, he became angry and allegedly assaulted her, striking her several times in the face with his fists.
Moyo later sought medical attention and reported the matter to the police, leading to Nkomazana’s arrest, the court heard.
