The attempted murder case against the son of the late Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, has been postponed to next week for a bail application.

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe (28) appeared briefly in Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 February, alongside his co-accused, Thobias Mugabe Matonhodze (33).

The pair face charges of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and possession of a firearm.

The firearm charge comes even though police have yet to recover the gun allegedly used in last week’s shooting at the Mugabes’ luxury Hyde Park property.

It’s still unclear who fired the shot that left the 23-year-old employee, reportedly a gardener, critically injured.

The house where the alleged shooting took place is reportedly shared by Chatunga and his 33-year-old brother, Robert Mugabe Jr.
