The Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) has granted provisional accreditation to two proposed universities, allowing them to begin the formal processes required for full recognition.

KEMET University and the Global University of Inclusivity received Provisional Accreditation status valid from 7 January 2026 to 6 January 2027, in terms of the ZIMCHE Act (Chapter 25:27, Section 11.4).

The provisional status authorises the institutions to set up governing bodies, develop physical facilities, assemble academic resources, and submit proposed academic programmes for ZIMCHE consideration and approval.

Once the stipulated conditions are met, the universities must formally apply for full accreditation before the provisional licence expires to maintain their legal registration status.

ZIMCHE stressed that the provisional licence does not allow the institutions to recruit students or advertise programmes that have not yet been accredited.
