2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland Football Club sealed a five-year partnership with South African top-flight side Durban City, formerly Maritzburg United, at a ceremony in Harare on Monday.

The agreement is set to provide players, coaches and technical staff with regular exchanges, elite-level exposure, and clear pathways to opportunities with international clubs.

Addressing the gathering, Scottland governor Tonderai Sakupwanya said the deal was part of the club’s long-term vision to establish itself as a hub for talent development and export. He said:

“This is more than a partnership; it is a regional football bridge between Zimbabwe and South Africa.

“Our shared goal is to develop players, coaches, and football institutions. We are building a pipeline that connects local talent to global opportunity.

“This collaboration represents a strategic football and commercial agreement valued at US$1.5 million.

“The investment covers youth development, technical support, exchange programmes, tournaments, and commercial growth.

“It signals serious intent and a long-term commitment to football development.”

Durban City CEO Younus Kadodia said the partnership would prioritise achieving its objectives, developing talent, strengthening structures, and establishing sustainable pathways for growth. Said Kadodia:

“This partnership is built on shared values and a common vision for football development and success.

“Through this collaboration, both clubs are committing to working closely together, drawing from each other’s strengths and experiences.

“Going forward, this partnership will focus on ensuring that the objectives we have set are achieved, developing talent, strengthening structures, and creating sustainable pathways for growth.

“We are confident that this collaboration will benefit both clubs as we move into the future.”
