Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba has left English Championship side Luton Town after he and the club agreed to end his contract by mutual consent.
Nakamba first joined Luton on loan from Aston Villa in January during the 2022/23 season. He made 20 appearances and played a key role in helping the club win promotion to the Premier League.
Luton said supporters will always remember Nakamba’s contribution, especially the penalty he scored in the shoot-out win over Coventry City in the play-off final at Wembley.
Two months later, he returned to the club on a permanent deal, signing a three-year contract after Luton agreed a transfer with Aston Villa.
Nakamba began the 2023/24 season strongly, making 14 appearances before suffering a knee injury while on World Cup qualifying duty with Zimbabwe. The injury ruled him out for the rest of the season.
In the 2024/25 campaign, he featured 23 times, and this season he made four appearances, bringing his total to 61 games for Luton Town.
On behalf of the board, Luton Town chief executive Gary Sweet said:
“Marvelous has been a huge part of our success, a special character who came to add real quality at the time we needed it to help us to promotion.
“He has been a pleasure to have around the Club, always smiling, even through some tough times personally with injury.
“Everyone at Luton Town thanks Marv for his contribution in his three years at Kenilworth Road, he will always be a welcome visitor, and we wish him every success for his future career.”
