Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has approved US$6.2 million in cash rewards and over 68,000 square metres of residential land for the national football team and officials after winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Each player in the Teranga Lions squad will receive US$135,000 and a 1,500-square-metre plot of land.
Members of the technical and support staff will get US$90,000 each and 1,000-square-metre plots.
The rewards show the government’s appreciation for the team’s achievement.
The announcement was made at a presidential reception in Dakar, where President Faye hosted the players and officials following their AFCON final victory.
He said the team’s success had brought the nation together and boosted Senegal’s reputation across Africa and around the world.
Senegal won the 2025 AFCON title after beating hosts Morocco 1-0 in the final on Sunday.
CAF president Patrice Motsepe said in December that the winners of the 35th edition in Morocco would receive US$10 million in prize money.
