The Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) has warned the public about a recall of NAN Special Pro HA Infant Formula (0–12 months), which is used to manage the dietary needs of infants at risk of developing cow’s milk protein allergy.
The recall affects NAN Special Pro HA 800g with batch number 51660742F3. The product was sold from September 2025 through major retailers and distributors across South Africa and has an approximate shelf life of 18 months.
According to the CPC, the recall was issued after the possible presence of Cereulide, a toxin produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus, was identified. This poses a potential food safety risk.
The CPC has strongly advised consumers who bought the affected product to stop using it immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
The Commission said it will continue working with the National Consumer Commission of South Africa to ensure full compliance with food safety and consumer protection laws.
For further information or assistance, consumers may contact the CPC on +263 719 176 856 / 861 / 865.
