City Of Harare Issues Safety Advisory As Flash Floods Hit Mbare, Waterfalls, Budiriro

The City of Harare has urged all residents and property owners in low-lying areas to stay alert to weather updates, monitor flood warnings daily, and take appropriate action to minimise risks. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and act quickly in the event of possible flooding.

This advisory comes after reports of flash floods in several low-lying parts of the city, with the most affected areas including Mbare, Highfields, Waterfalls, Warren Park, Budiriro, and Glen Norah.

Acting Town Clerk Phakamile Mabhena Moyo advised residents to drive cautiously during heavy rains, avoid parking vehicles under trees, refrain from throwing litter into drainage systems, and assist the City by clearing blocked drains in front of their properties.

To reduce traffic congestion during rainy conditions, motorists are encouraged to adjust travel times and leave the Central Business District (CBD) earlier than usual.
