The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development will this week begin nationwide public consultations on the proposed Road Accident Fund Bill.
In a statement, the ministry said the consultations will kick off on Thursday at a local hotel in Marondera, Mashonaland East, before moving to other parts of the country. The statement reads:
“The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development hereby invites all members of the public to participate in stakeholder consultations on the proposed RAF Bill.
“This is your opportunity to contribute your views and help shape this important legislation.”
The Bill seeks to establish a Road Accident Fund to compensate victims of road crashes across the country, against the backdrop of alarming statistics.
Zimbabwe records a road traffic accident every 15 minutes, with more than 35,000 crashes each year and over 1,500 lives lost.
Public consultations will begin on Thursday, 8 January 2026, at Hopefay Hotel and Conferencing Centre, 39 Main Street, Marondera.
The consultations will continue on Saturday, 10 January 2026, at the Junior High School Hall in Rhodene, Masvingo.
On Monday, 12 January 2026, Ministry officials will be at Bindura Primary School Hall in Bindura.
Further consultations are scheduled for Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at the Cresta Sprayview Hotel in Victoria Falls. The date and venue for Harare will be announced in due course.
