ZimWin Mining (Private) Limited has made a major contribution to education and community development in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe (UMP), donating educational materials, a solar-powered community borehole for 500 villagers, and a US$10,000 school fees package for underprivileged pupils. The company also pledged to build a new school block in the area.
The donations were handed over at Chipawa Primary School on 21 December 2025, in an event attended by key stakeholders and community members.
Top dignitaries present included the Member of Parliament for the area, Karimazondo Tichawona Makuwi, Chief Chitsungo, five local councillors, and a representative from the UMP Rural District Council (RDC).
As part of its corporate social responsibility, ZimWin Mining also donated textbooks, exercise books, pens, pencils, and other learning materials to Chipawa Primary School, benefiting over 405 students. Sports equipment was also provided to promote rural sports development.
During the event, ZimWin Mining Director Dr Xilong Su offered support to complete a school block that has so far been built up to the floor level. He said:
“The support demonstrates the company’s commitment to improving local educational infrastructure.
“This support is expected to provide much-needed classrooms, reducing overcrowding and improving learning conditions.”
ZimWin made a further donation of US$10,000 to support school fees for underprivileged students. This initiative forms part of the company’s broader focus on education and youth empowerment.
A solar-powered borehole was also donated to Chipawa Primary School and officially opened during the event, providing sustainable water access for both the school and the surrounding community.
The borehole is expected to benefit over 500 community members and support local agricultural projects in line with the National Development Strategy 2.
Councillor Kapfudza, the main speaker at the event, praised ZimWin Mining for its contributions to local development.
Chief Chitsungo and the MP also expressed gratitude for the company’s continued support, noting the positive impact on the community.
In addition, ZimWin Mining distributed food hampers to families in nearby areas, bringing Christmas cheer, and provides one tonne of maize annually to families living near the mine.
Earlier this year, the company donated three solar-powered boreholes to Sowa Secondary School, Gen’a community (Ward Kunditsungira Village), and a local clinic. ZimWin is also constructing a clinic in Kunditsungira Village.
The company has completed a US$15 million plant, which is now awaiting commissioning by senior leadership.
