The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is offering a substantial monetary reward for anyone with credible information leading to the location and arrest of murder suspect Anymore Zvitsva, 32. However, the amount has not been specified.
Zvitsva has been on the run for several days after allegedly killing five members of the same family in Guruve, Mashonaland Central Province.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said on Friday that anyone providing information will be duly rewarded, as pledged by the Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba. Added Nyathi:
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges those with information to contact the National Complaints Desk on 0242 703631 or WhatsApp 0712800197 or the Officer Commanding Guruve Police District, Chief Superintendent Marange on 0719010093 or approach any nearest Police Station.”
In a separate case, Nyathi said the police are investigating the brutal murder of an elderly woman (55) and a six-month-old infant at Farm 88, Nyakapupu, Guruve, on 18 December 2025. The victims were found with multiple head injuries.
Zvitsva is from Bangira Village, Mutsami Kraal, under Chief Chipuriro in Guruve.
He is alleged to have murdered five relatives on the night of 11 December at Plot 9, Ona Farm.
The victims were identified as Grace Zvitsva, 66; Loice Chiringaushe, 37; Takudzwa Kariva, 5; Tatenda Chirenje, 2; and Tendai Zvitsva, 40.
Police said the victims included a grandmother, her adult daughter, two young grandchildren, and another family member. Five other children who were sleeping in a separate room escaped unharmed.
According to the police, a neighbour raised the alarm after hearing disturbances at the homestead.
Tendai Zvitsva was found alive but critically injured and later died at Guruve Hospital, while the bodies of the other four victims were discovered inside the house.
Police have also linked Zvitsva to three other murders in Zimuna Village, under Chief Bepura, where Pamela, Kudzai, and Tawanda Chipangura were killed in a separate incident that remains under investigation.
An extensive manhunt is underway, with police deploying drones, Support Unit officers, CID detectives, canine units, horse patrols, and intelligence operatives, amid fears the suspect may be hiding in forested and mountainous areas around Guruve.
The motive for the killings remains unclear. However, police have indicated that Zvitsva is believed to have mental health challenges and urged families and communities not to ignore people showing signs of mental instability.
