The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says it is fully prepared for the Nkulumane National Assembly by-election, scheduled for Saturday, 20 December 2025.
Deputy Chairperson Rodney Simukai Kiwa told journalists that all logistical, financial, and human resources were in place ahead of polling.
Speaking at a press conference at the Nkulumane High School constituency command centre on Friday, Kiwa revealed that the commission had budgeted ZiG$21 million for the by-election. Said Kiwa:
“All material and human resources are in place. The constituency elections officer and deputy, ward elections officers and deputies, as well as presiding and polling officers for all polling centres, have been recruited and trained.”
Kiwa also revealed that there are 34 polling stations in the Nkulumane constituency, with two collation centres set up at Nkulumane High School and Queen Elizabeth School.
He said polling stations will open at 7 AM and close at 7 PM, adding that voters already in queues at closing time will still be allowed to cast their ballots.
Nine candidates are contesting the Nkulumane seat: Esther Auxilia Zitha (Independent), widow of the late MP Desire Moyo; Ethel Sibanda (MDC-T); Nompilo Ncube Malaba (Zimbabwe African National Congress – ZANC); Alson Moyo (EFF); Rodney Donovan Jele (Independent); Mbuso Fuzwayo (Independent); Freedom Murechu (Zanu PF); Mothusi “Madlela” Ndlovu (CCC); and Siziba Viyo Vivian (ZAPU).
