The Meteorological Services Department (MSD), together with the Department of Civil Protection, has issued a Level 2 weather warning for heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds across Zimbabwe from Sunday, 21 December, to Wednesday, 24 December 2025.

According to the alert released at 4 PM on Friday, the likelihood of severe weather is high, although the expected impact is classified as minor.

The warning applies to all provinces, with particular emphasis on flood-prone areas including Masvingo, Manicaland, Harare Metropolitan, Mashonaland East, and Mashonaland Central.

MSD forecasts rainfall exceeding 50mm in some areas within 24 hours, accompanied by hail, lightning, and strong wind gusts. These conditions are driven by warm, moist air interacting with low-pressure systems over the western and northern regions of the country.

The public has been urged to take precautionary measures. People have been advised to secure rooftops, tie down loose items, ensure animals are safe, and trim overhanging branches.

During storms, the public is warned against using machinery or open vehicles such as tractors, entering flooded areas, or using taps and showers.

21 December,in Geography,is the day when the Earth is at maximum tilt in relation to the Sun,before starting to tilt the other direction. So daylight hours are at maximum. So winds will change direction also and will bring more rains. All this is the Creation of the Almighty.
