The government has postponed the payment of the Special Presidential Bonus to 30 December 2025.
The bonus is payable to members of the Public Service, including the Uniformed Forces, pensioners, and traditional leaders.
The total Special Presidential Bonus amounts to US$150, with half already paid alongside November salaries.
Civil servants had expected the remaining half to be disbursed before Christmas, but this will not be the case.
The delay was confirmed by the Secretary of the Public Service Commission, Sibusisiwe Zembe. She wrote to the Paymaster:
“The Treasury has advised that the payment date for the final instalment of the Special Presidential Bonus for members of the Public Service, including the Uniformed Forces, Pensioners, and Traditional Leaders, has been rescheduled to 30 December 2025.
“You are therefore requested to take the necessary administrative steps to ensure the successful processing and payment of the Special Presidential Bonus in line with this directive.”
The bonus was announced just hours ahead of a demonstration that was scheduled for 17 October, called by fugitive war veteran Blessed Geza, who had urged citizens to protest against what he alleged was widespread corruption among the country’s ruling elite.
