Warriors vice-captain Marshall Munetsi says he is fit and ready to play at the 2025 AFCON finals, despite recent reports about his injury.

Munetsi suffered a calf injury while playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers last week against Nottingham Forest.

The injury kept him out of Monday’s match against Manchester United, and early indications suggested he might be out for several weeks.

Wolves head coach Rob Edwards told British media that Munetsi could be sidelined for at least six weeks.

However, speaking to H-Metro from England, Munetsi said some people were making it difficult for him to represent Zimbabwe at the AFCON tournament in Morocco.

He believes both his club, Wolves, and the Warriors’ team management have handled the situation poorly, creating confusion that could harm his reputation.

Munetsi said this may make it look as if he does not want to play for his country, which he insists is not true.

He also said his injury has healed faster than expected, which is why he has already returned to training at Wolves.

Munetsi stressed that this information should be made clear, especially if he ends up playing for Wolves during the AFCON period, as he does not want anyone to think he has abandoned the national team.

He added that he has tried to contact the Warriors coach and team management to ask for a chance to play in Morocco, but they have not responded.

Munetsi has also spoken to his club, telling them he is unhappy with how they reported his injury and the claim that he would be unavailable for about six weeks.
