Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs have voted to expand the top-flight competition from 18 to 20 teams, and, as part of the transition, no club will be relegated at the end of the 2025 season.
The league said the temporary suspension of relegation is intended to facilitate the shift to a 20-team format, which it says aligns more closely with international standards.
With four teams already promoted from the country’s regional divisions, the PSL is set to feature 22 clubs for the 2026 campaign.
The league confirmed that six teams will be relegated at the end of the 2026 season.
This means that the sides that had been facing the drop this year, among them Yadah, GreenFuel, Triangle, Manica Diamonds, Dynamos, Highlanders and Bikita Minerals, don’t have to worry anymore.
The decision also grants Kwekwe United, whose relegation had been confirmed two months ago, a reprieve, ensuring they retain their Premiership status.
