Zimbabwe’s national football team ended a 13-month winless run after beating Qatar 2-1 in an international friendly at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Doha on Monday, 17 November.

Qatar took an early lead through Mohamed Khaled Gouda in the 9th minute, but the Warriors responded well.

Munashe Garananga equalised with a powerful header in the 24th minute, setting the tone for a more controlled Zimbabwean performance.

Second-half substitute Bill Antonio then secured the victory, scoring the winner in the 74th minute.

The result gives newly appointed coach Marian Marinica his first win in charge, coming just a week after his debut match — a 3-1 defeat to Algeria.

It also provides timely momentum as Zimbabwe continue preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
