Cimas Health Group has urged companies to make employee wellbeing a core part of their business strategy, saying a healthy workforce drives productivity, strengthens performance, and reduces financial costs.
Speaking at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) Indaba, Dr Nicola Misi, Head of Cimas iGo, said workplace wellness should be viewed not as a luxury but as an essential element of risk management.
She asserted that investing in staff health programmes can help businesses lower absenteeism, improve morale, and create sustainable organisational growth. Said Dr Misi:
“Well-being initiatives do make an impact. They improve productivity. You’ll find that companies that have strong wellness programmes have a 20% higher productivity.
“Those companies that have more wellness programmes and wellness support are able to attract the right employees, the right talent.
“They’re also able to retain the right people to improve their organisations.”
She also stressed the importance of destigmatising mental health and promoting psychological support in the workplace.
Cimas iGo, the group’s dedicated wellness division, provides a range of programmes aimed at strengthening leadership, employee wellbeing, and overall organisational health. Said Dr Misi:
“We have a number of services that support leadership well-being. We also do lifestyle genomics and counselling for people, and we do it privately because sometimes people don’t want others to know they are accessing certain services.”
Her call comes as more global corporations embrace innovative wellness initiatives, such as on-site physiotherapy, access to mental health professionals, and dedicated rest or nap rooms, to better support employee wellbeing.
