Three Men Arrested After Hiring, Then Robbing, Driver Of Mitsubishi Lancer

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested three men in connection with a robbery in Shamva on Tuesday, 29 October.

The suspects, identified as Stanley Sibanda (52), Walter Nenyere (32), and Tadiwanashe Mbizi (22), allegedly posed as genuine passengers seeking transport from Harare to Shamva.

According to a ZRP statement, the suspects approached the complainant at Simon Muzenda Bus Terminus in Harare, offering US$50 to hire a vehicle.

Upon reaching Shamva, they reportedly attacked the complainant and stole a Mitsubishi Lancer, US$400 in cash, and other personal belongings.

It is further alleged that, on the same day, the suspects used the stolen vehicle to block another commuter riding a motorcycle along the Harare–Mukumbura Road at the 190 km peg.

They allegedly assaulted the second complainant and robbed him of a cellphone, a satchel containing clothes, and a wallet with identification documents.

The suspects were subsequently arrested by ZRP Mukumbura at Katarina Business Centre, and the stolen vehicle has been recovered.
