Dinson Iron and Steel Company (DISCO), Zimbabwe’s largest integrated steel producer and operator of the Manhize Steel Plant, has dismissed reports claiming that its operations have been shut down.

Project Director Winfred Motsi said the company has not closed, but is undergoing a scheduled maintenance shutdown. Said Motsi:

“We have not closed and I would like to clarify those rumours. We temporarily shut down to conduct the required quality checks to enhance our machinery and ensure the highest production standards.”

Motsi said that all employees are receiving full salaries during the maintenance period, highlighting the company’s commitment to staff welfare and transparency.

He added that operations at the Manhize facility are expected to resume next month, once maintenance and quality improvements are completed.
