Warriors vice-captain Marshall Munetsi was on target for Wolverhampton Wanderers as they beat Everton 2-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Munetsi opened the scoring in the 28th minute, slotting in a rebound to give Wolves a 1-0 lead at halftime. Tolu Akodare wrapped up the win with a late goal in the 87th minute.
The strike was Munetsi’s first of the season and his third since joining Wolves in January.
Meanwhile, Treymaurice Nyoni, who can play for the Warriors thanks to his Zimbabwean roots, featured for the full 90 minutes as Liverpool edged Southampton 2-1 in their Carabao Cup tie.
Nyoni started in midfield, initially in a more advanced role before dropping deeper as the game went on. Although his performance was fairly quiet, he showed composure and glimpses of potential, especially in the second half when he helped control play.
Liverpool’s win was sealed by goals from Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, sending them through to the next round.
